About THE DAM: The Mission
THE DAM's mission is to preserve the history of digital assets - crypto art, NFTs, memecoins, DeFi, and every strange and beautiful moment in between - by building a public institution that honors the artists, creators, and movements shaping this new cultural era.
In March of 2024, we realized a proper initiative to preserve the history we're living day-in & day-out must be pushed forward, before it disappears into a bunch of broken links, buried tweets, and forgotten Discord channels.
The emergence of digital assets & Web3 has changed how we create, how we organize, how we express value, and how we imagine what's possible…
It's given immense power to digital artists, collectors, communities, and crypto degens all over the world. It's united all of us together, enjoying & creating in a space we all refuse to leave, no matter what the market conditions are.
THE DAM is Web3's own museum - a museum that's not curated from the outside, but that's built by those who lived it.
The Location
THE DAM is located in one of the sunniest cities in the entire world: St. Petersburg, FL, USA.
With an average of 361 days of sunshine annually, and a Guinness World Record for the most consecutive days of sunshine (768 days between 1967 and 1969), St. Petersburg, FL is nicknamed "The Sunshine City."
St. Pete is a beautifully art-forward city located on the west coast of Florida with incredible year-round weather, making it an amazing place to proliferate the mission of digital assets and crypto art.
St. Pete is currently housing 16 museums already, including the world-famous Dali Museum, and THE DAM will be the 17th.
Our home base is planned for a free-standing, two-story building purposely designed with slanted windows in the Grand Central District of downtown St. Petersburg, steps away from the famous Tropicana Field, the Edge District, and a fast-growing creative corridor.
■ 6,636 sq ft of space over two levels
■ Surrounded by walkable dining, busy St. Pete nightlife, and hotels
■ Zoned and built for nightlife, for a meeting space such as a museum, and for a public event flow
■ Dense population of approximately 15,000 residents within 1-mile radius and over 65,000 residents within a 2-mile radius
■ The Billboard on THE DAM's property sees 100,000+ people drive past it per day on I-275
■ The ground-level intersection where THE DAM is located sees more than 10,500 vehicles per day
Our planned location has major visibility and is in an incredibly walkable part of St. Pete. It has the framework in place to make our intended experience for THE DAM to come to life.
